Limited Edition Artist Stamp No. 43
Sold Out

The Portland Stamp Company's Artist Series is an ongoing collaboration with invited designers, artists, and writers who create original work for an unusual form: the poster stamp. The poster stamps are printed on lickable, gummed paper and pinhole perforated by hand on their vintage machines.

Digital offset print with spot varnish, commemorating the portland mail truck expo of 1987.

Signed and numbered by the artist, released in a limited edition of 100.

Packaged in an eco-friendly, vegetable-based cellulose protective sleeve with chipboard backing.

Please Note: This is not actual US postage, but a series of artist-created stamps intended for both adornment and collecting.

This stamp is also part of The Artist Series Box Set No. 41-50.

Commemorative poster stamps are artifacts from another time. These miniature bits of advertising were popular in Europe at the turn of the century. Their appeal, utility, and popularity quickly grew, becoming ubiquitous in the United States in the 1920s.
