Matthew Bogart is a cartoonist living in Portland, Oregon.
His work includes Incredible Doom, a graphic novel series about 90s teens having their lives turned upside down by the early internet, and The Chairs' Hiatus, about two best friends who become famous and have a mysterious falling out. They are slice-of-life comics that sometimes include rock stars and rocket ships.
Allison is drowning under the weight of her domineering, emotionally abusive stage magician father. That is, until dad brings home the family’s first computer. Dialing into local BBS, she’s swept into a thrilling new world of internet friends, in-jokes, and ASCI art. However, none of that compares to Samir, her best new online friend, who has just agreed to run away from home with her.
And then there’s Richard. After moving to a new town and leaving all of his friends behind, he thought life couldn’t possibly get worse. Until a violent bully at his new school seems determined to make life a living hell. When Richard receives a mysterious note in his locker telling him to log into something called “Evol BBS” and a fierce punk named Tina becomes an ally he’s not sure he wants.
