War-era posters that advertised war bonds served as inspiration for this piece of a talking hen.
They might illustrate a line of B-25 bombers with the line, “keep ‘em flying" — the American vernacular, the call to arms, the urgency. For me, the backyard hen represents a hands-on, empowered approach to food and education.
