Mixed Media on Pine Original Art

Jessica Lynch is the founder and illustrator of Slow Loris Studio, a small art & apparel company located off the coast of Washington state on Guemes Island. She’s debuting an all-new collection of work at Land Gallery inspired by her life on the tiny island of 600 people.

When not painting or drawing, you can find her with her husband and 3 year old daughter working on projects like rebuilding old trailers or making play dough cookies.

This is a mixed media piece of ink, gouache, tissue, mimeograph carbon and oil pastel on thick pine panel.

Living on a small island in the PNW for the past 20 years, I’ve seen a lot of island rides in many states of drivability. From boats to campers to mopeds, island life and its remote sense of living, provides endless modes of transportation touting expired tabs, broken tail lights and falling off doors. Boats sit in dry dock waiting in hopes to sail again, and souped up golf carts never to see another putting green become someone’s private shuttle to the ferry. This show celebrates the island ride. These rides have once moved, or currently still do and have been found here on Guemes Island or on the surrounding San Juans.
